11.05(Thu.) ~ 11.11(Wed.)
@CGV Myeong-dong Station Cinelibrary
The Open Pride Section of SIPFF realizes the value of coexistence and solidarity by presenting films about various rights and values along with LGBTQIA+ rights. This year in CGV Myeong-dong Station Cinelibrary, the section presents 7 movies about LGBTQIA+ refugees with the refugee rights NGO, Migration to Asia Peace(MAP).
<Unsettled: Seeking Refuge in America> by Tom Shepard is a documentary about the lives of refugees who had to flee to the US because they were threatened to death in their native countries because of their sexual orientation. Shepard filmed the LGBTQIA+ refugees struggling to settle on the new land. On November 7th, a Queer Talk(QT) will be presented by KIM JHO Gwang-soo, the head of executive committee, along with KIM Youngah, the executive director of MAP and KIM Jirim, attorney at law of GongGam Human Rights Law Foundation, as talk guests. They will discuss prejudice and social structural violence against refugees in and out of South Korea, and how to overcome the violence and stand in solidarity together.
