2019 ADEX Resistance Action Peace Talk Show From Yemen to Korea: Refugees and the Arms Trade Date and venue: Thursday, October 10, 2019, 7 p.m., NPO Support Center Pumda
The civil war in Yemen, called “the worst disaster made by humans,” has continued for several years.
The war, which is in effect a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran, still shows no sign of ending.
Government forces and rebels bomb civilian residential areas indiscriminately, civilian deaths have reached 8,600, and millions of refugees have been created, so Yemen is now in a humanitarian crisis.
“We are barely surviving, without even knowing why the war broke out.”
The hundreds of Yemeni refugees who came to Korea last year are people who fled this indiscriminate bombing.
Why should we pay attention to the civil war in Yemen?
The United Nations recently concluded that the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Iran, which supplied weapons to Saudi Arabia and the UAE fighting in the Yemen war, all bear responsibility for the war. Is Korea really unrelated to the war in Yemen?
We have organized an event to talk together about how the arms trade is affecting conflict and the creation of refugees through the war in Yemen, and about what we should do.
We ask for your attendance.
