Last May, too, MAP’s activities continued at many different sites. In this newsletter, we bring you the stories from those sites!
What happened at MAP last May?
First news ❤️ Running together today, MAP is one team! Save the Children International Children’s Marathon

✅Running together today, MAP is one team! Save the Children International Children’s Marathon
➡️ 2026 Save the Children International Children’s Marathon
The 2026 Save the Children International Children’s Marathon was held with the theme of supporting children with a migrant background. It is a citizen participation campaign held every year to raise awareness of the protection of children’s rights and the value of sharing. Participants walked and ran together and joined in the message for a society where every child can grow up without discrimination!
On May 2, MAP took part in the “2026 Save the Children International Children’s Marathon” held at Yeouido Park. This year’s event was held to support children with a migrant background. Our group was 27 refugee children and guardians in total, and 7 (volunteer) activists. We ran through a tunnel of green trees with the children, and had a great time walking hand in hand around the booths.
Seeing the children filled with excitement, pride and curiosity, our hearts were full of joy. We hope there will be more opportunities like this!💫
Second news ❤️ A special day for the Good Samaritan scholarship students

✅ Volunteer work and a networking day for the Good Samaritan scholarship students
❓What is the Good Samaritan Scholarship❓
MAP and the Good Samaritan House run the “Good Samaritan Scholarship” to support refugees’ higher education and vocational education.
The selected scholarship students take part in volunteer work on a regular basis.
May 10 was a special day of volunteering and networking for 10 Good Samaritan scholarship students. In the morning, the scholarship students joined the volunteers of the Good Samaritan House at Hongje-dong Catholic Church to sell cookies, candles and coffee to raise a fund for refugee support.
Over lunch and in the afternoon, they talked about each other’s school life and discussed the information support they need as young refugees.
Besides information on livelihood stability support, they raised the need for information that helps them connect with the local community and build social networks.
Please look forward to the scholarship students’ many activities to come!🌱

Third news ❤️ Dialogue with Refugees
@Sangwoo High School @Uijeongbu Girls’ Middle School @Secondary Teachers’ Group

✅Dialogue with Refugees: first-year students at Sangwoo High School, third-year students at Uijeongbu Girls’ Middle School, and a secondary teachers’ group
➡️ The
This round of Dialogue with Refugees was held at two schools and with one group: first-year students at Sangwoo High School, third-year students at Uijeongbu Girls’ Middle School, and a secondary teachers’ group.
It was especially meaningful because we worked with schools that are neighbors of MAP’s Uijeongbu office. It was a time that deepened our understanding of the importance of the role of the local community in welcoming refugees.
Dialogue with Refugees will go anywhere that dreams of a world without discrimination together with refugees. Please look forward to it!
Fourth news ❤️ MAP joined the first step of discussing refugee support policy in Gyeonggi Province

✅We joined the first step of discussing refugee support policy in Gyeonggi Province
On the 18th, the first meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Refugee Support Policy Advisory Committee was held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Northern Office in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. The refugee policy advisory committee is a body of 10 members, including the director of the Gyeonggi Province Immigrant Society Bureau, provincial council members, legal experts, and migrants and refugees themselves! In this way, Gyeonggi Province has become the first local government to begin drawing up a blueprint for refugee support policy! At this first meeting, after a ceremony to appoint the committee members, they discussed the direction of operations and of future projects.
Kim Young-ah, the head of MAP, joined as a member.
