Hello! This is Migration to Asia Peace (MAP)!
Even in July, when the heat was at its peak, MAP’s activities continued at many different sites.
💌MAP LETTER💌 will tell you those stories.
What happened at MAP last July?

First news❤️
The 2026 second-half WEMAP DAY was held

On July 4, the second-half WEMAP DAY was held.
WEMAP DAY is a time when volunteer activists share their team activities, and new activists are introduced and trained.
First-half and second-half activists gathered in one place, presented the work they had each done in their own roles, encouraged one another, and enjoyed getting to know each other.
Please show your interest in the growing activity of MAP’s volunteer activists!
Second news❤️
“2026 Global Citizens Peace Camp,” where people met with one heart

The “2026 Global Citizens Peace Camp,” where refugees living in Korea and Korean youth and young adults become friends together, was held from July 10 to 12 in Bonghwa Village, Gimhae, and ended with great success.
This camp, held every year as part of global democratic citizenship education, took hate as its theme this year.
Participants from diverse backgrounds listened to one another’s lives and were able to experience becoming one across boundaries.
Third news❤️
Talking through pictures: “Nadiya’s Sketchbook”

On July 19, a “Dialogue with Refugees” session, “Nadia’s Sketchbook,” which doubled as an art exhibition, was held.
Nadiya, who was born in Ukraine and has lived in Korea as a refugee for seven years, has recorded her arduous life and the stories in her heart in pictures,
Participants looked into the exhibited pictures with their hearts, and shared their emotion by reading together, in the languages of their various countries, the texts Nadia wrote herself.
The artist said that she especially wants to make the story of “Cheese,” the pet cat that saved her life and whose life she saved, into a book, and added that it was a happy time.
Fourth news❤️
Refugee Research Network 2026 Refugee Forum @ Seoul National University Asia Center

On July 24, we attended the “Refugee Research Network 2026 Refugee Forum” held at the Seoul National University Asia Center. The “2026 Refugee Forum” was an academic conference held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Refugee Convention.
In the “Promoting Meaningful Participation of Refugees” session, Shaima, an activist working on the basis of her own experience as a refugee, and Kim Young-ah, the head of MAP, gave presentations on behalf of MAP.
Fifth news❤️
“International Forum on Student Refugees,” which explored expanding higher education opportunities for refugee youth

We attended the “International Forum on Student Refugees” held at Kangwon National University from July 29 to 31.
The forum was a venue for discussing what kind of environment is needed so that more refugee youth can have access to higher education.
Since MAP also sets “strengthening the capacity of refugee youth” as an important goal, this forum was all the more meaningful.
A volunteer activist who took part in the forum shared this impression: “It was impressive to see people who had just met agree on a common purpose, and it gave me a chance to think again about the direction of our scholarship program.”
